About Francis Scott Key Elementary/Middle School

Francis Scott Key Elementary/Middle (FSK) sits just steps from Under Armour and the shops and development around Silo Point. Yet, its sprawling, green campus, private parking and extensive sports fields give the school an almost suburban appearance. With brand new STEM lab classrooms, FSK is noted for its extensive use of technology. Every child, at every grade level, has access to a computer. FSK also offers a strong, diverse arts program and a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. School progress can be seen in continually rising standardized test scores, which surpass the city average. FSK benefits from strong community partnerships and parent engagement, making it a school families are proud to walk to.

Meet the Principal

Principal Corey Basmajian has been an educator in Baltimore City schools for more than 13 years. He was previously a principal at Windsor Hill Elementary/Middle for four years before making the transition to FSK. In 2017, he took on the job of principal at FSK because he wanted to encourage high-quality instruction and opportunity for all students by providing teachers with opportunities for success.

Principal Basmajian believes all students can learn and prosper from quality education. He believes education can positively alter the pathway of communities. His passion for the profession comes from wanting to be a beacon in children’s lives and create a better tomorrow. He earned a bachelor's in secondary social studies from The State University of New York and a master's degree in educational leadership from Towson University.
