Principal Smith is in her sixth year as the principal of Margaret Brent Elementary Middle School. She celebrates 21 years as an educator in the Baltimore City Public Schools System in October. During those 21 years, she has served as classroom teacher, librarian, assistant principal, central office administrator and now principal. Principal Smith has a passion for ensuring that students are in a learning environment that is nurturing, orderly, attractive and intellectually stimulating. She also believes that for optimal student achievement to occur all stakeholders must work together in a collaborative, strategic and logical manner to support the diverse needs of all students with excellence as the expectation. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in the Urban Educational Leadership program at Morgan State University. While she never thought she would be an educator, she says she has enjoyed the journey thus far and eagerly anticipates what the future has in store for her.
