Principal Amanda Brown joined Roland Park Elementary/Middle School as a first-year principal after first serving a year as a residential principal at Thomas Johnson Elementary through the New Leaders for New Schools principal residency training program. The native Marylander said she enjoys Roland Park EMS’ engaged community and diversity and is looking forward to working with staff to discover what motivates student learning and using it to help students reach their potential. “In this day and age all the information students could want is out there, but we want to ignite learning and act as a facilitator so kids feel empowered,” she said. Principal Brown’s education background includes teaching high school English and serving as an academic content liaison in the Central Office. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Salisbury University and a master’s degree in teaching for secondary literacy from the Johns Hopkins University.
