You likely know Live Baltimore for Buying Into Baltimore, City Living Starts Here, Six-O’Clock Sessions, Pizza in the Precinct, Way to Stay, and our world famous website. (These are just a few of the many events and services Live Baltimore offers to meet the needs of people who are living in or thinking about moving to Baltimore City.)
Would you believe with all Live Baltimore does, we are just a staff of seven people? How do we do it all? Our volunteers.
Live Baltimore has a dedicated pool of volunteers that take registration at events, give tours, answer questions, and help with the heavy lifting (really, there is a lot of equipment at our events). We also have a group of volunteers we call Neighborhood Know-It-Alls. With 277 neighborhoods in Baltimore City, Live Baltimore's staff can’t be experts on all of them (especially with only seven of us). Besides, people don’t want to hear only from our non-profit about how great a neighborhood is. People want to hear from the horse’s mouth—our Neighborhood Know-It-Alls'. Know-It-Alls create a profile about why they chose their neighborhood and a preferred contact if a future neighbor has questions. (Live Baltimore recently added School Know-It-Alls as well, to answer school questions in support of our Way to Stay program.)
Live Baltimore knows it would be nothing without its volunteers, so we honored them as the "All Stars" on June 17th with a happy hour and an O’s game at Camden Yards. Weather was perfect for the 7th floor terrace at one of Live Baltimore’s partners, The Zenith, luxury apartments at Camden Yards. Volunteers and staff went wild over the tater tot bar from Clementine as we enjoyed the view. Then we were off to the game with a box of Cracker Jacks (including a prize).
That night the Orioles did not do us proud, but we were treated to fireworks and in the end the Orioles won the series against the Toronto Blue Jays and remained in first place.
