July 20, 2017 - Neighborhood Tour
On the final Friday of every month, Live Baltimore heads out of the office and into one of Baltimore’s 278 neighborhoods. Each month, we love what we find! March was no different.
June’s Final Friday took us north to the Coldspring neighborhood, the beautiful community between the Village of Cross Keys and Cylburn. One of Baltimore’s innovative planned communities, Coldspring boasts a bevy of green space and attractive living options that include condominiums, town homes, and apartments.
Our morning began with breakfast at the centrally located Coldspring-Newtown Community Center, chatting with long-time and new residents about life in Coldspring. Their enthusiasm for the area was contagious, highlighting a tight-knit community that offers plenty of opportunities to meet new people. “This neighborhood feels like family,” they told us.
We set out from there, exploring the neighborhood’s spacious walking paths, park-like green spaces, and more amenities than we could have possibly expected. We found grassy fields, playgrounds (a LOT of them!), tennis courts, an Olympic sized swimming pool with memberships for all residents, and even a bird sanctuary! Later, we stopped by a resident’s condo to take in the interior architecture.
Need to relax after all that activity? Coldspring has that covered with a meditation labyrinth area, built with pathways to follow in order to "calm the mind, open the heart, and infuse the spirit."
Combine that calm with Coldspring’s convenience, and residents have a wonderful neighborhood to call home. Coldspring offers parking for all residents and boasts proximity to highways and the light rail. Residents have medical and educational options right in their neighborhood as well, with the Ruscombe Mansion Community Health Center and the Waldorf School of Baltimore calling Coldspring home.
After such a lovely tour from gracious, welcoming hosts, we can’t wait to come back. Maybe for a swim!
