Reinvest Baltimore Down Payment Assistance

The Reinvest Baltimore Down Payment Assistance Program, administered by Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Baltimore, helps eligible homebuyers purchase newly rehabilitated homes in targeted Baltimore neighborhoods by providing up to $20,000 in financial assistance in the form of a 0% interest, 5-year forgivable loan.

PROGRAM BENEFIT

This program reduces the amount of money you’ll need up-front to buy your home.

ELIGIBILITY & LIMITATIONS

• You must earn a homeownership counseling certificate from NHS or an NHS-approved agency partner. *Homeownership certificates are valid for 12 months from the date of completion.
• You must live in this home as your primary residence. Homebuyers who currently own a property must sell their existing home and occupy the new home as their primary residence.
• You must contribute at least $1,000 of your own money to your home purchase.
• Your mortgage amount cannot exceed $667,000.
• You must work with a federally insured, NHS-approved mortgage lender to obtain a fixed-rate mortgage.
• You must apply and be approved prior to closing on your home. Program funds are not retroactive.
• Property must be located in a BVRI or UPLIFT-funded area. View the current properties for sale here.
• Fixed-rate mortgages only. Co-signers, cash sales, and owner-financing are not permitted.
• Must occupy the home as a primary residence.
• No household income restriction.
• Not limited to first-time homebuyers.
