Why do Brewers Hill Residents Love Where They Live?
Brewers Hill, located in Southeast Baltimore, is a neighborhood made up entirely of rowhouses, new-construction townhomes, and luxury apartment buildings. Our team was delighted to receive a guided walking tour of this historic neighborhood, led by members of their neighborhood association and some longtime residents. Read along to find out why these residents believe Brewers Hill is the best neighborhood in Baltimore City.
Close-Knit Neighbors
Many of the residents in Brewers Hill have remained in the neighborhood for decades, giving them ample time to get to know and support one another. And the new neighbors don’t stay new for long. Next-door neighbors and the neighborhood association frequently offer them friendly greetings and invite them to community events.
“We have a really solid core foundation of support around here. I can’t tell you how many packages Brant has saved for me over the years… friends have become family.” -Stacy Maney
Family Friendly
Families with children rejoice in the fact that many other families live in the community, offering endless playmates. Additionally, the neighborhood association often hosts events to support these families. Children in the neighborhood attend great schools like Archbishop Borders School, Graceland Park-O’Donnell Heights Elementary Middle School, Hampstead Hill Academy, Highlandtown Elementary/Middle School, Patterson High School, and St. Casimir Catholic School.
“Halloween is my favorite holiday here. We get an unbelievable number of kids, and they don’t ring your doorbell, so you have to stay outside. Which means that it sort of turns into just a big street party for us adults.”- Meghan McCorkell
Community-Focused Businesses
While the Natty Boh Tower illuminates the neighborhood with festive light shows, Brewers Hill residents also enjoy having walkable pubs and eateries nearby, like Knotty Pine, Huck’s American Craft, and Mobtown Brewing Company. In addition to offering a space for neighbors to gather and unwind, these businesses often contribute to their neighborhood by hosting events planned by the neighborhood association and supporting community improvements.
“A lot of our business owners live here in the neighborhood and are very actively engaged. So, just as much as you have that community feel among the residents, you also have it with the business owners as well.” -Brant Fisher
Brewers Hill Neighbors, Inc.
Brewers Hill Neighbors, Inc. (BHN) is the active neighborhood association dedicated to the Brewers Hill neighborhood, founded by residents Brant Fisher, Phil a’Becket, and Donna Beitler in 2016. In its nearly 10 years of operation, this neighborhood association has added much-needed stop signs to the neighborhood, initiated community greening projects, installed two new murals, and donated to schools in the area. In addition to these improvements, BHN hosts events for Brewers Hill residents like movie nights, block parties, breakfast with Santa, dumpster days, plant giveaways, and more. Even with all these activities, BHN still has a lot more it wants to accomplish!
