About Barclay Elementary/Middle School
Barclay Elementary/Middle School is an official "Community School," with strong ties to its surrounding neighborhoods. The school benefits from a wide variety of partnerships, including those with Goucher College and Johns Hopkins University. Extracurricular activities and clubs include Science Olympiad, Read a Story/Write a Story, sports, arts enrichment, tutoring and mentoring. Over 100 students take advantage of a comprehensive afterschool program, Monday through Thursday.

Meet the Principal
Armanda Gwynn-Carr is the result of what Baltimore City Schools’ “Great Kids” can become. As a graduate of Baltimore City Public Schools, Principal Carr earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Coppin State University, a master's degree in special education leadership and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in administration and supervision from Notre Dame University of Baltimore. She returned to our “Great Schools” and has served as a special education and a general education teacher, a staff developer, an assistant principal and principal. Carr believes that the key to student success is true collaboration between the school, parents and the community.
