Garrett Heights Elementary/Middle sits on a picturesque hill in the warm and welcoming Lauraville neighborhood. Increased parent and community involvement in recent years has helped the school build a strong vision for its future. Starting in the 2016/2017 school year, Garrett Heights became the first Baltimore City public, non-charter, school to pilot a Montessori program. Beginning with Pre-K, K, and first grade, the school plans to add Montessori classrooms grade by grade until it becomes an authentic Montessori school.

What I love most about my child's school
I love how welcoming Garrett Heights staff is to new students and new ideas. I first volunteered when my daughter was three working with teachers and community members to construct an outdoor "living" classroom. Then we began talking about transitioning to a Montessori learning model and Principal A is working with us to make it happen!

Garrett Heights is about more than numbers. It's about a vision for a Public Montessori School where every child can become a life long learner at their own pace with children of mixed ages and backgrounds. It's about partnering with Morgan State for Science and Technology, offering great extra-circulars like Spanish and Music; and Gifted and Talented Learning. Come visit and look beyond the numbers to our vision for the future.
