Parkside ZIP codes: 21206
Parkside rests along Herring Run Park, creating a beautiful green wall along its western border. With the park directly outside of Parkside residents’ front doors, there’s no wonder this neighborhood takes pride in where they live and maintains a clean, green community. If you’re lucky enough to visit Parkside, you’ll notice how clean the streets and sidewalks are kept, as well as the residents’ alleyways. Despite the similar row home style that’s prominent throughout the neighborhood, the beautification varies from owner to owner. At the corner of Parkside Drive and Roberton Avenue there is a newly-built children’s playground. It’s typical to see it covered with school children in the evenings, after school, and once homework has been completed. Redemption Church of Baltimore is also a major neighborhood landmark. The church began in 2006 and has grown from 10 members to more than 300. Each year, the parish organizes neighborhood-based events such as the Bless Fest, Annual Health Fair, Summer Church Cookout, and Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Conveniently, Parkside is home to the Baltimore City Fire Department’s First Battalion Engine Company 27 & Truck Company 26. Many children pass the station as they walk to and from school, adding to the safety and small-town feel that this neighborhood exudes.
