Druid Heights ZIP codes: 21217
Druid Heights is a neighborhood just off of North Avenue, the East-West thoroughfare that once marked the border between Baltimore City and Baltimore County. It is also bounded by Pennsylvania Avenue, Division, McCulloh, and Laurens Streets. Druid Heights is part of Old West Baltimore, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Pennsylvania Avenue corridor district is home to many civic monuments that relate to Baltimore's premier historic African-American community. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Congressman Parren Mitchell, jazz artist Cab Calloway, civil rights leader Lillie Mae Carroll Jackson all lived or worked in the area. The community is predominately residential and its homes contain large interiors with three stories and as many as five bedrooms. With a very active Community Development Corporation the neighborhood is on the rise. New construction and historic homes meet to form a growing community. Just a short walk to the shops on Pennsylvania Avenue from anywhere in the neighborhood, residents have amenities on hand. A Metro strop and bus lines running along Pennsylvania and North Avenue also make Druid Heights accessible. The library is a great area resource for families and adults alike and offers free Wi-Fi and community programming.
