What brought you to Baltimore?

Grew up in Howard County and when we moved back to the US from living in Germany we wanted to experience more of a community feel than the suburbs provide. My husband had lived in Hamden in college and we worked with a Baltimore realtor to find our perfect neighborhood in Riverside.

What do you love most about this neighborhood?

We have two senior dogs so Riverside park is the perfect size for our lazy pals! The houses are varied in levels of renovated/refinished which means that you can find the perfect space to fit whatever budget you're looking for and we LOVE the sense of community. It's close enough to lots of bars and restaurants to have exciting things happening in the area without it being loud and noisey since we're heading into our 30s instead of into our 20s. Love being walking distance to Fed Hill, the stadiums, Locust Point, and right off of 95 for getting back out to the burbs for work/family.

What would you tell someone considering this neighborhood?

When we were looking had our realtor pick us a few places that we looked at virtually (from Germany) and then I came one day with my mother on a trip back to the US and walked the neighborhood on a beautiful day. We stopped in for lunch at one of the local restaurants and walked through the park so that I could get a feel for how far from the park we'd like to be, which side we'd prefer, etc. We had a small window to look for houses but there were literally a dozen across a huge budget difference with various ammenities so when it came time to look in person we'd already narrowed a lot of criteria. In the last few years it seems like houses go faster and faster so if you're interested in the area, definitely start working with a realtor EARLY!
